Hello my dears classmates

This is my last post in this blog! My first experience like blogger, were I talk about my personals experience but, IN ENGLISH?? Jajaja I never knew that I could do that.

Well, I considered a very interesting internet platform, because it is very helpful and modern way to share information, ideas, opinions, etc. You can use this internet platform for basically anything that you would. Many people around the word can read your blog, and they can write any opinion about your post. Initially, I felt a little bit embarrassed about that, because my English and my opinions was very basic, but and as the time progressed and I had writing more blogs, I fell more comfortable and free, when I express my opinions easily. If you ask me:  Did you enjoy? My answer was: Yes, I did! Write my thoughts in English it’s very crazy, because I didn't know how to express myself in Spanish, can you imagine in English? But I can do! And was very fun, because I think this practice help me very much to improve my English. I think the advantage is the weakly training and disadvantage of blogging is no one correcting you grammar, only in the final week. And if I do badly, how can I know that? This situation always was very stressing.  Well, I really enjoy do that.

My Favorite Subject

Hello

Today I to talk about my subjects, in particular concerning what subjects I was study in this year. I have five annual or yearly subjects. These subjects are:  Violoncello II, Chamber music II, Symphony orchestra III, Music History II, musical analysis II. These curses are done in Down Town Arts Faculty. And I have too term subjects: English III. This curse is done in “Las Encinas” Arts Faculty.

My favorite subjects are “Chamber Music II” my professor is a conductor and bassoon player, Eduardo Mubarak. He was study in Leipzig, Germany in the best conservatory of the city. He it’s a very oldest man, but he loves teach and he never can stop to do that’s. This class is about to how to play in the chamber group music with others classmates. This year, we chose “String Quarter”, and my classmates are Eder, first violin player; Jessica, second violin player; Diana, viola player and me, cello player.

We chose play Beethoven String Quarter opus 18 number 1. The professor listen our interpretations and give us an opinion about it. He says that we must how to get better, and we play once again, many times. It is very fun and interesting how the music gets better whit his opinion. I love this class!!

Experience the beauty?

When most people around the word: see, feel and hear “beuty”, they expressly accepted “beauty”, in their music, culture, clothes, dog, house, jobs, etc., without questions.

Denis Dutton explains “Beauty” by looked at it in a different way: “the evolutionary way”, or he calls it: “Darwinian theory of beauty”.

In this talk for about 15 minutes, he explains this theory extremely briefly and didactically and that the beauty has been felt and has changed throughout human and animal evolution. Always he is making the difference about “psycho-social” human evolution and “physical changes”, over the way of beauty.

He was explaining too, about two different types of experience the beauty:

1. Beauty is culturally conditioned, reflecting the social consensus of what is considered normal or desirable, beautiful or ugly. We can see many examples from daily life that would illustrate this progress in human life, like: clothes, fashions, fears, pleasures, etc. which we have learned about over time, and from the culture which is transmitted from generation to generation.

2. We can say that arts and nature are a universal beauty that knows no borders, because all people around the world like music, painting, buildings, books; and natural land forms

These two forms of beauty give us pleasure, and this is great! Because this is the reason we can find in all beauty things.
In conclusion, in the words of the author himself: “beauty is in the culturally conditioned eye of the beholder, and includes human genes, natural land forms, work of arts and skilled human actions."

My favorite artist

Hello everyone

I would like to talk you about my favorite artist, en especially favorite “music” artist; he was an influential composer and musician, his name is: Ludwig van Beethoven.

Ludwig van Beethoven was born in Bonn, Germany in 1770. Ludwig´s first musical instruction came from his father Johann who was said to have been a harsh instructor. Although Beethoven’s musical genius was compared to that of Mozart’s, his education never exceeded elementary level. After a while, even though he was still only a boy, Ludwig became a traveling performer, and soon, he was supporting his family. 

In his early twenties, Beethoven moved to Vienna, hoping to meet and study with Wolfgan Amadeus Mozart, but He studied with Haydn for less than a year; their personalities did not mix well. Beethoven then studied with Johann Georg Albrechtsberger, the best known teacher of counterpoint.

In Viena, where he spent the rest of his life Beethoven was one of the first composers to make a living without being employed by the church or a member of the nobility. I love his nature, very active, brave and strong at the same time. At first, he was known as a brilliant pianist. But when he was around 30 years old, Beethoven started going deaf. Can you imagine?? A deaf musician. It is a tragedy.  One story recalls that after conducting the premiere of this ninth Symphony he had to be turned around to see the overwhelming applause of the audience. When he heard nothing, he began to weep.

Even though he could no longer hear well enough to play the piano, Beethoven composed some of his best music after he was deaf! This is amazing and obviously difficult to believe, but it’s even more amazing when we listen to his compositions.

He was such a romantic man, he always dreamed of becoming a great husband with his “Immortal Beloved”, but that never came true.

Beethoven is considered one of the greatest musical geniuses who ever lived. He may be most famous for his nine symphonies, but he also wrote many other kinds of music: chamber and choral music, piano music and string quartets, and an opera.

Particularly, I love his composition and his music.

A Photograph

Helloooooo

I’m going to talk about a photograph; I have to confess that I love photos more than movies, but not more than books.
Every picture tells a story. ”A picture is worth a thousand words”. As the history of photography developed, the portrait adapted itself to new techniques and ideas; photographers emerged from their studios, travelled and photographed a wide variety of figures in the most diverse situations maintaining their own unique style. Did you know that? Do have you heard about that? I was doing a little research on photograph history.

I’ve never been an “artistic photographer”, but I always try to use  my Smartphone’s camera.

The picture i choose was taken last year at the end of a study day and playing cello in the study room at my faculty. I decided to take a break with a hot cup of tea looking out over the balcony. I felt very tired but at the same time I felt very pleased with the progress I had made. Meanwhile, I thought about my next cello test, concert, travel, money, friends, money, and above all, music. I turned my head to look at something in the study room and look on something “favourably”: all my stuff spilled on the floor. In this picture, we can see the results at the end of a long study day for Catalina.

my autobiografy (once again...)

I’m Catalina Paz Vega Varela. I´m a cello performance student at the Downtown Arts Faculty at Universidad de Chile. I was born May 27, 1990, in La Serena, Chile. My parents are Lucy Varela and Alonso Vega. My mom works as an inspector in a primary school, in La Serena; and my dad works as a marine biology researcher and teacher in Universidad Católica del Norte.

I’ve got a younger sister, named Leonor. She lives with my mom and she is 14 years old and likes very much to listen music and painting. I have a little brother too named Facundo and he has only one and a half year old, he is very witty, clever and naughty.

I have live in Santiago since 2008 because my dream was been a cello performance student  at the university and become a great cellist and music player. Now, I´m fulfilling my dreams in downtown Arts Faculty at Universidad de Chile as a cello student performance.

Studying violoncello is very difficult and need be a very responsible person, we need to devote eight hour day by day to study only violoncello. But I love it!

My Favorite Artist (my favourite artist)

today (start sentence with uppercase ) I’m going to talk about Slinkachu one of my favorite artist(.)

Slinkachu is a British street artist, photographer and blogger. This artist was born as Stuart Pantoll(.) He says that he always has been interested in small things, when he was young, (eliminate this coma) his dad made for him a train set, but he never was interested in the trains, it was always the figures, houses and trees that fascinated him.

Born in 1979, this artist of 34 years old, uses every day’s objects, (eliminate this coma) and tiny figurines, (eliminate this coma) to create very small street-­-based installations and then photographs (to create small street-based installations to photograph) them: from far away and up-close. He could also be described as a miniaturist; he modifies tiny human figurines from model train sets and places them in real urban situations, capturing them in sight-seeing, camping, grocery shopping, fighting or dying.

He spent the last eight years shooting his miniature tableaux on the streets of London (on London streets). Funny and touching, he put urban life under the microscope. Slinkachu's approach to street art is more subtle, more sensitive. You could easily walk right past one of Slinkachu's installations and not know it's there. His photographs are the key: the close-ups make you feel like a participant, while the far-­-away shots leave you feeling like a spectator. (while distant shots make you feel you are a spectator)

His first solo (solo) exhibition was in august 2008, London, (eliminate this coma) on the Cosh Gallery, but (Nevertheless he) began his series of Little People in 2006, (eliminate this coma) as respite from his day job in publishing. In relation with little things he says: “I didn't expect people to empathize with the characters so much. (“I didn't expect people could to empathize with the characters.) We have an innate pull to look after small things – kids, dogs, hamsters...People project their own feelings on to them.”

Slinkachu has become very famous, now his photographs sell for up to £7000. Well, to fnish , maybe we could say that this works are meant to be published or to be in the without that , Slinkachu couldn't exist as an artist.

My Favourite Film

Helloooooo!!

I love to watch movies with friends, boyfriend or my family, and at the cinema or my living room. I especially like  comedy and romantic films, and my favorite movie is a mix of both styles.

My favorite film is “50 first dates”.It is American romantic comedy film directed by Peter Segal and written by George Wing. This movie from 2004 and it's actors are Adam Sandler and Drew Barrymore.

The plot: Henry (Sandler) lives an enviable life in a Hawaiian paradise, spending every night with a beautiful tourist in search of an island fling. It's a sweet life with no strings attached...until he meets Lucy (Barrymore). He and Lucy hit it off from the get-go, but the next day she acts like she doesn't know him. Has his karma come around to kick him in the butt or what? Actually, Lucy has short-term memory loss so every night all memory of her day is erased. But a man in love will go to any lengths to win over the girl of his dreams, and if that means having to find imaginative ways of doing it over again every day, then Henry's up for the challenge.

It’s my favorite film, becauseit takes in a paradise, has a nice plot, it is very funny and the soundtrack is great! The most beautiful thing about this movie is how Henry has to romance Lucy every single day and hope she falls for him.

I highly recommend this film!!

Someone I admire…

Hi everyone! 

I´m want to talk about: Jacqueline du Pre, the best cellist around the word.

I considered an expert, becouse she mark a milestone at the cello's history and I admire her, she was a figther and determined woman.

nevertheless She has a very sad history.. here we go...

                                              

Jacqueline Mary du Pré was born in Oxford on January 26, 1945. Her parents were Iris and Derek du Pré, and she had one older sister Hilary. 

She began to show incredible musical promise at a very young age and began to play the cello at the age of four. At ten years old Jacqueline du Pré studied under William Pleeth. She then studied with Casals, Tortelier and Rostropovich.

In March 1961, at age 16, du Pré made her formal début, at Wigmore Hall, London. She was accompanied by Ernest Lush, and played sonatas by Handel, Brahms, Debussy and de Falla, and a solo cello suite by Bach.

In 1965 she recorded the Elgar Concertowith Sir John Barbirolli and the London Symphony Orchestra, a recording which established her stardom. Her unselfishness made her a brilliant chamber music player, collaborating with many of today's greatest names in music. And at that time was given the gift from an anonymous donor of the 1712 Davidoff Stradivarius (  a violoncello), which she was to play for the rest of her life and eventually leave to Yo-Yo Ma (an other great cellist) when she died.

She married pianist Daniel Barenboim in 1967, converted to Judaism, and had a very good life with him, yet she still felt strain from her early career start. But in 1969, Jackie began feeling intense numbness in her hands and feet, By the fall of 1973 she was diagnosed with multiple sclerosis. She continued to teach on occasion, but the deterioration of her health gained momentum and finally, on October 19, 1987, she died at the age of forty-two.

All the good artists die young....
